What You Need to Know in Times of Bereavement

When the death occurs at home, if it is sudden and the person has not been under the care of their G.P. you would need to call an ambulance so that the death can be referred to the coroner. The coroner’s officer will help and advise you as to what will happen next.

If your loved one passes away in the hospital, we can arrange to transfer them to our funeral home. We understand this is a very emotional time and are at hand to assist with all the arrangements.

How To Arrange a Funeral?

Funerals are arranged here by our funeral director. When you get in touch with us we will guide you through all the necessary paperwork, services and costs involved in arranging a funeral.

As part of our professional service, we take care of everything from the care of the deceased until the funeral to arranging transportation, flowers and coffin carriers.

At every step of the process, you will be informed and given choices on how you would like the funeral to commence. Often people pass and have specific instructions for their funeral and we are here to help facilitate these wishes.

Should I Choose Burial or Cremation?

This is an entirely personal choice up to you and your family. Crematorium costs are cheaper than a burial, but some people would prefer to have a designated resting place on the grounds of a cemetery and a traditional burial service.

Often families have a tradition of burial or cremation, some people wish to be laid to rest alongside their loved ones and family members. The deceased may also have passed a preference on before their passing.

Most people in the Wirral Peninsula choose from various cremation services at Landican Cemetery or their local parish church.

Having a cremation service or burial in the local community is a convenient way for friends and family to come together and celebrate the life of a loved one.

We have access to all of the churches in the local area and are one of the most trusted funeral homes and directors in Wallasey.

What Kind of Coffin Can I Choose?

We can provide you with a wide selection of coffins. From traditional style wooden coffins, wicker coffins, cardboard coffins and bespoke coffins at your request.

You may want to engrave the coffin or for it to be a particular colour. All of this will be handled by the funeral director in making your funeral arrangements.

In addition, you may want your loved one to wear their own clothes or let us provide a burial gown or robe? These are all little points which help to make the funeral arrangement totally personal to you.

Can I have a Church Service First?

You can choose to have a service in your local church and then travel to the cemetery for a final blessing and burial. Or you can decide to have the service at the cemetery or crematorium chapel.

We are here to facilitate whatever you decide and will make all the necessary arrangements on your behalf.

Can I have a Minister, Priest or Civil Celebrant?

Typically a funeral is conducted by a vicar or priest, depending on the deceased’s religious beliefs. Some none religious people may prefer a civil celebrant conduct the funeral.

This is to be decided upon by the family. Many people today may find themselves as none religious but take comfort in the familiar songs, prayers and customs associated with religious funerals.

How Long Does it take to Arrange a Funeral?

Typically it takes around one to two weeks to arrange a funeral. If the death involves an inquest this can also be delayed further.

Our funeral director will provide you with a choice of available dates, here you can choose a date and time that will best suit you and your family.

You may have people travelling across the country to attend the funeral, knowing the date in advance will give your friends and family plenty of time to make travel arrangements in order to attend the funeral.

Just please remember not to be overwhelmed, you do not have to consider all or any of these questions until you feel ready. There is no rush, you are not under any pressure. We will be glad to discuss everything in detail when we meet up with you. We will explain costs all along the line so you are fully aware of what it is all going to cost and a written estimate will always be given.
